when breaking into a car there is no rhyme or reason sometimes they could be bored ne'er-do-wells or drug addicts or kids on a dare. 2 windows on the passenger's side of my car were smashed a couple of months ago parked on Freemont down near Harrison- I had a bike in there, and heaps of just crap- papers, bags, etc. NOTHING was touched or stolen. I think it was just a punk or homeless person having some fun.

Please be patient. It can take a week to work through the nominations and assign badges. Good, standard advice is to carry only the things you need in your wallet or purse.   May all beings benefit from your wisdom and compassion. Don't beat yourself up about it because every time you think about it, it will upset you . Not worth wasting your thoughts on some idiot. I was the victim of a similar crime, and totally understand the feeling of violation. You’re right however, you were lucky as it could have been worse. Sending peace to your heart and mind, and I’m glad you’re ok.

That still creeps me out, especially at night when I get in the van and wonder if someone is hiding in the back of it . I am so sorry to hear about this but glad you are staying strong through it with a positive outlook! Thanks for another inspiring post! . But they did not take the +/- 50 cans and bottles of beer we had in the trunk. This is an archived post .

That’s a good point Wendy. Sadly, tragedies happen every day, and in the grand scheme of things theft isn’t life-shattering. (Though I have to admit, having insurance helps a lot!). try putting a sign up asking for your memory card back, ask them to drop it into the police station / a local shop where you k now the owner / local church etc.

Lori, I’m so sorry to read this!  Likewise our home was broken into while we took three of our children out for dinner as a treat.  It took years for my kids to get over the trauma. They wouldn’t set foot in the house until the lights had been turned on.  I wish I had the wisdom that I have now, and I would have handled the situation entirely differently.  You have an amazing attitude and I love reading your encouraging blog.

someone broke into my car and stole everything

I  am an expert at getting my car stolen and broken into. I can count on one hand the times my car has been stolen but the break in far exceeds anything that a human can count. The bottom line is this..

.. leave anything of value in plain sight and you can blame no one but your self for the break in. Too bad we have come to this point.

On the other hand, sometimes folks just like to f*** sh** up. Oh my goodness, wht a time you’ve had! I had a similar situation where I was robbed while undergoing emergency surgery insurance casualty. It’s wonderful to see that you have such a great attitude. Hang in there!. But I wasn’t. And I had the capacity to do everything on their list—to follow each step one by one and put things back together. She (the adjuster) is sending me paper work to fill out for the claim. I used to have this company (Erie) for both auto and home policies but when I made a claim with them 4 years ago for a totaled car (approx $ 5500 claim) they dropped me like a hot potato soon after despite zero points on my record and a 17 year history with very few incidents, so I'm not thinking they have my best interests at heart. That’s an interesting approach.

It surprises me that someone can do that without remorse. But I’ve been trying not to think about it!. Believe me, I thought about it, but I didn't want to be as big an a-hole as the dude who got mine. I send you comfort, understanding and support . Thank you for sharing honestly.

May this event birth a fountain of blessings. December 5, 2012 If my car was stolen or broken into … would I be able to collect on my auto insurance?. I am sad this happened. When I went through a transition time in my life it occured to me to imagine that all had been lost in a fire, it helped.

I live in the Netherlands and I always lock everything (Bikes twice). I only lock my doors while driving when I a really rough neighborhood. Stereo equipment and CD’s that are not attached to the car permanently. i did file a police report and did the fraud alert thing just in case.

someone broke into my car and stole my wallet

A North Texas mom was victimized not once, but twice and she hopes security camera footage will track down the criminals. (Published Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013). Car broke into, smashed the driver side window. The thief stole my wallet (I know, dumb of me to keep the whole thing in there) and iPhone pool insurance. He left my house keys (grateful!) and my down coat (grateful!) covered in glass on the back seat. He apparently tried to slim-jim the front door.

He damaged the window frame. Ditto for the frame on the window he eventually smashed. $1200 worth of damage. Asshole.
I flagged down a passing car. I could tell the woman really didn’t want to stop, but I guess I looked mostly harmless. I asked her to call 911. “311 you mean?” “Yeah.” The call took quite a while.

But the cops weren’t going to come out, of course not. This was a nothing-burger. A petty crime. I could file a police report by phone. Did I want to do it now? No, I’d taken enough of her time.

“Thank you for stopping.” “No problem.” Me? Grateful. Encouraged at the willingness of a complete stranger to stop and help. love 2 sit in the FSO office for 2 hours because there's one officer and she's offsite for some reason.

I was bummed about the MD player, it was mine and I am sure the thief did know how to use it, or even WTF it was.

Glad to hear that you are okay – we’ve never met but of all the emails I get yours are always the most often read. Thanks for the suggestion to check eBay and Craigslist. I’ll give that a try!. [–] SimianRex 3 years ago   (1 child) permalink save give gold.

Mess with my gate, yard, windows and welcome to instant SERIOUS barking. I open my door you will be team charged by two German Sheperds at full speed and all you will see are noses and teeth. Also, a quick tip about burglers and windows. There is a thin sheet of plastic you can adhere to your windows that make them almost impossible to break. They help in hurricanes as well.
I forgot the name of the plastic stuff but I saw a demonstration on the Discovery channel and it was incredible. A guy with a baseball bat had to wack at the window for 5-10 minutes before it would break. Identity theft is also a potential problem. If anything you lost has sensitive personal information such as your name and birth date, you might want to place a fraud alert on your credit record to prevent someone from opening new accounts in your name.

The saying that “If you don’t use it,you lose it” is very true.Ask my Doctor, sometime, wont you?. that is hilarious! If I ever get something bigger than an ankle biter, I’ll have to pick up one of those stickers!. We have 2 lab mixes, still puppies at 9 & 10 months old, but they don’t sound like pups when they bark!! We’ve had people cut through our yard only to end up running through as soon as the dogs hear them and start barking. We’ve also had delivery and repair people refuse to even come into our enclosed porch once they hear the dogs.

someone broke into my car and now it wont start

I'd just say to remove anything of value from the car when you park it. Most of the time I don't even bother locking my car, if somebody wants to steal my $5 digital tire pressure gauge, an old torn-up shirt or half a tin of Mentos mints they can feel free to help themselves. Damn! My civic was broken in to 3 times, after the second I just stopped locking the car to at least save my windows . Never left anything valuable in it to begin with. Don’t delay, especially if it’s a debit card that was stolen: If you wait too long to report it you could face significant losses — up to all the money in your account. Using a piece of wire to jumper the two pins of the plug and turning the key on sets the ECU into test mode. Then consider who might have any mechanical diagnosis and/or repair experience, as well as just some people who could pick you up or help you finish the tasks you needed transportation for while you figure out what to do with the car.

bigstunnerdude - I'm genuinely sorry you have been a victim of crime. I myself had four tyres stabbed and the car scratched to fcuk and back whilst it was parked near to the station on July 7th last year - I only found out the next day after I'd been on 18 hours straight and understandably we didn't have anyone to report it for me. I had a witness and she was willing to go to court. However it was not in the public interest to spend your money on a case the Mags would bosh anyway.
